You are alive today because God want you to be. If He says no you would have been a dead man or woman long before now. Don’t forget that thousands of people die daily across the globe. You are alive today because God has not finish with you yet. He still has a lot to do with you and through you. Your being alive is of three (3) significances:
A call to worship GOD
Discovery of your life assignment
Being a blessing to others
A CALL TO WORSHIP GOD
Rev 4:8-11 “And the four beast had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, which was and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thank to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever. The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, thou art worthy, o Lord, to received glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
The bible quoted gave us a pictorial event that takes place in heaven day and night, and all time. Worship is the delicacies of God. Worship is the heart beat of God. God desires worship and created man to join the host of heaven to worship Him.
The ten commandments God gave to Moses in Exodus chapter 20 verse 3 says “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”. And verse 5a says “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God,”
Rev 22:8-9 “And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, see thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God”
In other words man is not expected to worship or bow down to angels, images or things, man are to worship God Almighty alone, the creator.
What is worship? Worship is an assignment given to all men by God to achieved on a daily basis why alive and after death to join the host of Angels and 24 elders in continuity of worship to God.
Worship is a command; it’s the essence of creating man. It is therefore not negotiable. Even when the road is rough, when you are jobless, lack money, sick, when you are looking for the fruits of the womb, and in all circumstances or challenges of life, we must worship God.
For instances, a friend of my lost his mother last year and I saw in him worry, depression, pains, and he was very low in spirit. In my words of encouragement to him, I told him if God wipe out a whole community no one can question or quarry Him (God). No man can tell Him what to do, how, where and when to do it and what not to do. He has the final say on any matter or on any life.
Worship comes from worth-ship that is showing and displaying the worth of God. What is the worth of God? God is the creator of the universe. He created the heavens, the earth and the seas and everything there in. He created the sun, moon and the stars. He is the giver of human life. The soul and breath of every man is in his hands. In him we live, and move, and have our being. Silvers and gold belongs to him. He has the capacity to make alive and to kill.
We should worship God for who is he. Worship is a solely acknowledgement of God's wealth. Psalm 96:5-6 says, "For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary." In other words, our worship must be toward the one who is worthy simply because of his identity as the Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent One, and not just because God is wealthy and able to meet our needs and answer our prayers. We must focus our practice of worship on the worthiness of God and not his wealthiness.
There is this drama presented in my church by the drama group. Two women went to God to ask for something, the first woman was asking God but her request was full of complains, God was asking her, woman what do you want but she continue complaining, then God send the angel of endurance and long suffering to follow her. Then come the second woman and she began to worship, eulogize, and calling God beautiful names, God ask her woman what do you want but she continue eulogizing God, then God send the angels of peace, favour, mercy and grace to followed her but the woman does not stopped she still continue worshipping God and showcasing His worth and God Himself stand from His throne and followed her.
Acts 12:22-23, “And the people gave a shout, saying, it is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost”
King Herod, in his folly, did nothing to refrained those who cried that he (Herod) spoke with the voice of a god, and not of a man. In short, Herod accepted their homage, a reverence that belongs to God alone. His death ought to sound a serious warning to any and all who would be pompous enough to allow others to bow down before them and ascribe the glory due to God to them. God is a jealous God and He will never share His glory with any man.
The key elements of worship is found in John chapter 4: 21- 24 “Jesus saith unto her, woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”
Every barrier to the worship of God has been removed through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. You can now worship your God anywhere at any part of the world. Worship of God is not limited to church alone, you can worship God in the bathroom, in the kitchen, on the road, in the bus or your car, at the place of work, infact you can worship God anywhere, any time and at any place. But our worship must be carried out in spirit and in truth for it to be acceptable by God.
In 2 chronicles 20:1-25 (read)
Three nations; Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir came together to battle with king Jehoshaphat without his knowledge but someone who saw the multitudes of men of war coming towards Judah hinted Jehoshaphat of the battle on the way, fear grip his heart, but in his fear he seek the Lord and proclaimed fast throughout Judah. They all gathered together in the house of God to ask for help from the Lord. And the spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushment against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
Worship is a powerful instrument in victory. It’s a key to unlock the throne of heaven. It moved God to act. Therefore make worship a lifestyle.
